You can "Spend Yourself" in behalf of the hungry this Thanksgiving by helping our neighbors in need.  Columbia Missions provides families with a frozen turkey and bags of groceries for their Thanksgiving meal.

We need your help in donating food items, preparing bags of groceries and distributing food to the families.  Please place food donations in the Thanksgiving Share bins located throughout the church by Wednesday night, November 19.

Food items needed:  canned fruit, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, corn, carrots, or cranberry sauce.  We also need box stuffing, instant potatoes, pie filling, cake mix, chicken broth and turkey gravy.

OperationChristmasChild

Operation Christmas Child

November 22-23

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy children around the world and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. We will share the joy of giving as we fill our shoeboxes. Brochures with packing instructions are on the ministry walls. Bring your filled boxes to your worship service on Saturday or Sunday, November 22 or 23. Shoeboxes that need to be delivered prior to those dates can be left on the counter behind the Information Desk.  Email Joyce Herb, email, or call her at 703-534-5740 x202 for more information.

Prayer Guide
SUNDAY - Pray for the hurting children and their families whose lives will be impacted this year through Operation Christmas Child. Pray especially that many hearts will be opened to God's love and the Good News of Jesus Christ.
MONDAY - Most children who receive shoe box gifts live in desperate circumstances, suffering from poverty, sickness, war, or natural disaster. Pray that God will meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
TUESDAY - Pray for our ministry partners in countries around the world, especially that the shoe box gits will be effective tools for evangelism. Pray also for their follow-up and discipleship programs.
WEDNESDAY - Gift-filled shoe boxes are distributed in some countries that are not receptive to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray that doors will be opened, so the Good News can be shared.
THURSDAY - Pray for the individuals, families, churches, and groups who will be filling shoe boxes this year, especially for the children. Pray that they will see that it truly is more blessed to give than to receive.
FRIDAY - Pray for everyone involved in collecting, processing, transporting, and delivering shoe box gifts, including the tens of thousands of volunteers. Pray especially for the timely delivery of gifts.
SATURDAY - Pray for the Samaritan's Purse staff and volunteers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany and Australia, as they deal with the logistical challenges of Operation Christmas Child.
